It would be nice if users could save their current "layout" for GC - meaning, the next time they open GC, things (pane size and position, table view selected, filters and sort selected, etc.) are the same as when the last "layout save" was performed.

There should also be some way to restore the layout to a default position (in case a user really makes a mess of things somehow).

If you are running the client on a machine with an ATI graphics card that supports OpenGL and are experiencing problems like that described in the following link http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=5031602, then you need to set the Java property sun.java2d.opengl to false in the client lax file in the bin directory. The property already exists in the file and is set to true by default, so simply change it from true to false.

This is already possible using the system audit functionality. To run a system audit, make the VCS tab the active tab in the client and choose 'Audit System Against Repository...' from the Version menu. This will cause a dialog to be displayed where you can choose the system in question from a drop-down menu. Select the system and the click the search icon next to the drop-down menu. This will cause the client to identify all items that are in the repository, but that do no exist in the chosen system. When the audit completes, you can selectively deploy any discovered items to the given system.

This is an issue that was just discovered. If you have PA files that contain newline characters, for example a Match String in a Parse Rule that looks like: `^[^ ^M]\\{1,\\}, VCDS cannot read that PA file from the working directory properly. The problem is that the code uses a readLine() call to get each line of the PA file, these characters cause the code to think this is the end of the line, thus breaking the PA file reading mechanism. Fixing this will require me to totally change how I parse the PA files, so fixing it will likely be deferred until someone runs into the problem and reports it. Please let us know if you have encountered this problem and need it fixed.

With Paul's help, we discovered the source of the problem. There are really two issues. First of all, this problem only exists if you have any VSM 6.0 systems registered in your gcServer. We discovered that if there are erroneous entries in the authlsl table of your NETeXPERT database, this causes an Exception in the client while building the Start Group tree, which in turn causes the client to lose its references to Gateways in the client table view. Therefore, when a message comes into the client for a Gateway (i.e. when you start/stop Gateways), the client thinks the Gateway does not exist and adds it to the table. By erroneous entries in the authlsl table, I mean that it has Gateways that do not exist in the mgrconf table belonging to Start Lists. So step 1 is to remove all entries in the authlsl table that point to Gateways that do not exist.

The second issue is how did these entries make it into the authlsl table. We found a bug in the gcServer, where the server was not removing Gateways from any Start Lists they belong to when the Gateways are deleted using the gcClient. This has been fixed, and a patch has been uploaded to your ftp accounts. Simply download the zip file named gcServer_2-0-3_02282006.zip and unzip its contents to gcServer/server/gc/lib, and restart your server. Please email me if you have any questions on accessing your ftp account or poking around the authlsl table.
