Oracle expanding their OSS suite
A lot of buzz this week from Oracle OpenWorld 2006 in San Francisco, CA... Oracle™ announced the acquisition of MetaSolv Software™, an Operational Support System (OSS) vendor providing provisioning, network inventory, and service activation applications for the communications industry.

Oracle expands their Siebel CRM suite with the MetaSolv Service Fulfillment suite. I believe this is a good move for Oracle because they understand large scale software and system integration issues and are leveraged by communication service providers world-wide for mission-critical databases. It should be interesting to see what may be their next move. Will Oracle continue to look for acquisitions to fill out their OSS suite?

We're going to watch what unfolds here given a series of major OSS acquisitions this last year including Amdocs acquiring Cramer, and IBM acquiring Micromuse 12/2005.

NOTE: NETeXPERT™'s reference architecture is Oracle and Sun Solaris (UNIX).
